I love to walk. My friends and I walk for about 60 minutes every other day. All you need is a good pair of walking shoes. Very Happy

Walking is great. It's easy on the knees and you don't need anything special except for a good pair of walking shoes. Plus you can walk all over like at malls. And now that summer is on its way you can always go out and walk with friends or alone. The weather is nice so we might as well take advantage of it.

Errr, it errored my post and was lost. Sad

I love walking! I want to get a tredmill for indoors during winter and when the weather is bad. We try to walk every evening. My husband and I pack up our daughter and go walk down to the mailbox and then walk a few blocks. We make it a family outting when the weather is nice. During the weekends we try to go downtown and walk along the river front, hit the nature trails and other areas that are fun to walk.Sometimes you forget your actually excersing.

Sometimes walking is hard during allergy season. Being out with the grasses and other pollens I am allergic to make me really react.

I never really thought I would like walking, but after a few weeks of staying consistent with it nothing for me is better. I took it slowed and progressed slowly and it has worked well for me.

My husband and I enjoy getting out and walking about a mile a day. We like to take different routes in the neighborhood and see who is planting something new this time of year or who is getting a new roof or coat of paint on their house. Wink

I walk with my kids as it gives us a chance to talk and bond as well. It also gets out of the house and they get good exercise as well.

I saw on my local news the other day a new type of walking its called...Mall Walking!!

A group of people get together and walk through a huge shopping centre as their daily exercise. The best thing about it is that it can be done in all weathers, and is an opportunity to meet new people.

So if you have allergies or hate the rain like me, it could be a good alternative. But if you are good at spending money, perhaps the temptation could be a little too much!!! Laughing

I think they are a tad behind on this. Our local mall has done that for years. They open at like 6 am but the stores don't open intil at least 8-830...or very few do. I don't consider the mall super big that does it but you can walk it a few times and still get a good walk in. I've went with my pap a few times when he didn't make it to the gym in the morning.Man elderly people go and they really enjoy it.

walking is an excellent workout, almost anyone can do it and doesn't require equipment. have any of you tried to make your walking more effective by adding hand weights to get your upper body more involved and make you burn more calories?

The arm bike is also a great alternative to walking to ensure that you are getting adequate cardio and it tones your upper body too.

Walking is a most simple and effective exercise if done on a long time. They are much better than other short term exercises and can be really useful in making the body healthy.

I enjoy walking as well! My problem is getting out there and doing it! But my two youngest got new bikes for Christmas so it gives me an excuse to get out there and at least get moving.

What I like about walking is that it is not exhausting, like running for example, and yet you can still get a good workout. If done consistently, walking brings good results.
