A new study from Interuniversity Center for Obesity in Italy examines non exercise energy output from different activities.

It turns out that fidgeting is positively associated with leanness. Subjects who tend to be lean have a much higher incidence of fidgeting behavior.

Apparently fidgeting may be a component of non exercise energy management.
