The short answer is that it depends.

Jogging/walking over an extended time would burn more calories but some of it would be coming from muscle. High intensity training like sprinting would burn fat, but you won’t be able to keep it up over a long period of time, so you should do both to optimize your benefits.
High intensity training, like sprinting, will increase growth hormone (HGH), which helps reduce body fat. You can “sprint” by running, cycling, swimming, and power walking. The key is to get out of breath. Just make sure to ease into it and warm up before you do it so you don’t pull anything.

A sample workout would be to jog as a warm up for 4 minutes, then sprint for 2, jog 1, sprint 2, jog 5, sprint 2, then take a 5 min cool down by walking.

there are some running programs which promise some incredible results but dont take much strain

Would sprinting be considered the best way to burn off stubborn fat or are there better cardio methods?
