Thank you for that information. I would have never thought about eating it with fruit. When I think of carbs--I think of pasta, bread, and rice. I forget that fruit has carbs also.

I was reading an article written by Dr. Atkins last night. He talked a lot about good fat and insulin function. I feel so dumb...lol because I feel like a new light has been put on this subject. I am actually learning something new. Smile

The vinegar and peanuts tips (and related other tips) are actually in a book that Dean and I are working on. Haven't done an article on it. The basic idea which is well supported by research is that eating carbs with a small amount of good fat improves insulin function, meaning you metabolize the carbs for energy instead of store them as fat. Doesn't have to be peanuts. Can be 2 almonds, a few sunflower seeds, etc. Applies to all carbs - fruit included. That small bit of fat with those carbs makes a big difference in how the body uses the energy in those carbs.

Is there an article I am missing on this, Joel? I went and looked but didn't see one.

I have my curiosity peaked now! Smile

Figure a sip (like a half teaspoon). Eating carbs with 2 or 3 peanuts has been shown to improve insulin function. Adding vinegar just helps it more. Alternatively a bit of whey concentrate and peanuts will do the same, or a bit of alpha lipoic acid (about 200-300mg)

Really Joel? Ok, so now I am going to have to go search the articles real well and see if I missed this one.

How much vinegar to 2 to 3 peanuts? That is extremely interesting.

Boy, you can use vinegar for everything and anything.

Yes, vinegar has been shown to aid insulin signaling. For max effect, use vinegar with 2 or 3 peanuts. The way to do it is prior to eating a meal that is heavy in starchy carbs. There is quite a bit of good research showing this works.

I love vinegar. My friends think I'm insane because I once (on a dare) drank a glass of it. I thought it was really good but I got a few weird looks. Confused

I have also heard that vinegar can help you lose weight. I don't like it but would give it a try if it works.

I heard that vinegar helps boost your metabolism, which helps you burn calories faster. Not to mention, vinegar is suppose to be really good for you immunity.

Have you heard this? What are some things you put vinegar on?

My favorite is cucumbers with just vinegar. Of course I love salt with them as well, but am trying to cut back on the salt---so just vinegar for now.
