Yes, I was on the path to get outside and walk every day this week and then the stupid weather decided it was going to pour rain then it was like 10 degrees outside and now it's raining again! Geez! Our apartment complex does have a gym with treadmills, but both treadmills are broken! They don't plan on fixing them either! Ugh!

I love to walk. My friends and I walk for about 60 minutes every other day. All you need is a good pair of walking shoes. Very Happy

You are absolutely right that walking is perfect for the health and especially for the weight loss. You can also use another interesting trick is to park at the far end of any parking lot. It will increase your physical activity especially when you will come back with purchases.

We do that all the time! It seems stupid sometimes, but it does give you extra steps every time you do it. Also gets the heart pumping and sometimes I tend to spend less knowing I have to cart all that stuff way back to the car! LOL!

I find it helpful even to just, say, park in the middle of a downtown shopping center and walk the extra few minutes from place to place instead of driving everywhere like I used to. It's a great way to help stay in shape and save gas at the same time.

If you want to take walking to the next level racewalking is another option to running. I've learned to really love it. Walking marathons or shorter races are also a great motivator. I'm doing a 1/2 marathon on Saturday...

I've always loved to walk but it's a little difficult because the weather where I live isn't really the best for it.

Try setting up walking club for like minded people. It is a great way to keep healthy and meet new friends.

How fast should you be walking? Does your heart rate need to be at a certain level for it to be effective walking?

I enjoy walking as well! My problem is getting out there and doing it! But my two youngest got new bikes for Christmas so it gives me an excuse to get out there and at least get moving.

If you enjoy walking and dont want to come out, buy a treadmill(doesnt have to be expensive) and start walking while watching your favorite tv show to avoid boredom. Smile

To the point your almost jogging so you can have a good cardio workout. Perhaps 15 to 20 mins. 30 to 45 mins at slow pace.

I just made a quick research that walkers have less incidence of cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and other killer diseases. They live longer and get mental health and spiritual benefits. How about that.

Walking is a good form of exercise. I used to walk 30-40 minutes around the park. I even used a shoe pedometer for me to know the counts. if you want yourself to avoid heart illness, start walking.

Can walking slow down your metabolism? I heard that it is often translated by the body as migration. This is why it can lead to the body slowing down fat burning

Metabolism is defined as the amount of energy a person's body burns.Your body uses these biochemical's just to function each day. Everything you do, such as reading, thinking, walking, eating, digesting food, elimination, hormone production, and exercising uses up biochemical's. What your body uses, it must replenish from the foods you eat. Your metabolism is the sum of all these anabolic and catabolic biochemical reactions. This is why the quality of your nutrition is so very important.
