Some of my products, I am not ashamed to say, we’re developed strictly for my own use. When you love nutrition and devote as much time to research as I do, it’s bound to happen. It’s how I came up with BodyGlo.

I eat healthy (that’s no surprise) but even I find it difficult to eat as many fruits and vegetables as I should, and in the diversity I should. So, naturally I started looking into Superfoods.

Superfoods, in theory, are an easy, convenient way to get your vitamins and antioxidants like vitamin C, E, and beta carotene to “scavenge” or offset free radicals. Free radicals cause cellular damage, and studies suggest may be responsible for weight gain, cardiovascular disease, cancer… and ultimately why we age and die.

Antioxidants are important, and a food’s antioxidant content is measured in units called ORAC or Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity. The higher the ORAC, the more free radicals a food can offset. Researches at the USDA have suggested an ORAC intake of about 3,000 to 5,000 units a day as part of an overall health, lifetime weight loss and anti-aging strategy. The average person gets about 1,200 ORAC units a day.

Realizing the importance of improving my daily ORAC, I started looking at the Superfoods available. The more I looked, the more I realized how poor the products were. Most were just “greens” formulas that didn’t include fruits, or even colorful proven vegetables such as carotenoids like tomatoes, carrots and peppers. You don’t need to know much about nutrition to understand the importance of eating many different kinds of fruits and vegetables… not just “green” ones. If the biodiversity wasn’t bad enough (which also tends to make them taste bad because there is no fruit to improve the taste) they also had relatively low ORAC value! They would use all kinds of tricks like presenting a high ORAC, but not telling you it was really based on the whole container, not per the serving!

I settle on creating my own. My goal was to come up with a Frankenstein food so packed with fruits, vegetables, vitamins and minerals… it would power a light bulb (and it actually does).

My final BodyGlo formula has over 70 natural ingredients and an ORAC of almost 7,500 per serving! Not heaping scoops, but normal table spoon size servings. All tested, verified, and certified by the top scientific authority (see the certificate yourself). More importantly, the ingredients are micro processed to make it mixable, and standardized for potency. This is crucial because two oranges in the store may have different levels of vitamin C because of where they were grown, when they were picked, and how long they have been on the shelf.
