For those of you that don’t believe it until it’s backed by science, you can now set your incline on the treadmill to 15.

The Department of Integrative Physiology at The University of Colorado has released a study examining comparing the amount of energy expended when running horizontally versus on an incline.

The study was performed on both biped and quadraped animals. The study showed that the metabolic energy needed to run on an incline was significantly greater than the energy expended to run horizontally.

Another nice study telling us what we already know. It’s harder running uphill. Duh.
